Bali Orchid Garden

This beautifully landscaped Bali Orchid Garden is situated within the green belt close to Sanur, Bali. The hectare of landscaped tropical gardens provides a peaceful, relaxing environment where exquisite orchids bloom throughout the year. The botanical garden is open for individual tourists, tour groups and private functions. Within this relaxing tropical garden haven grow many different tropical plants from Cordylines, Bromeliads, Heliconia, Aroids, Pitcher plants (nepenthes) and many, many more from Indonesia and abroad.  Orchids range from showy cattleya and vanda hybrids to a large range of indonesian  species.  Bali Orchid Garden offers a number of services such as landscaping, Tours and hosting of special functions. The souvenir shop is well stocked with a wide variety of products for sale.

Friendly staff are available to escort and explain the wide variety of tropical plants, help you discover many orchid treasures while touring the garden, or assist with your purchase of a memento from the shop. Flower boxes can be ordered to take overseas.  Floral arrangements and plants are also available for local use. Discuss your requirements for any of our products with our sales staff. Bali Orchid Garden, opened in 1999, was founded and developed for PT Anggrek Anyar by experienced orchid growers David and Dorothy Dowd. It is Bali’s original Orchid Garden developed specially for overseas and local tourists, complementing the government botanical garden and is situated within easy reach of the main tourist hotels.

Conservation of Indonesian species
Bali Orchid Garden is committed to preserving the orchid species of Indonesia. A new partnership with Bogor Botanical Garden has been formed  to propagate these species and ensure they will be available for future generations of orchid enthusiasts. Flasks of plants are available through Bali Orchid Garden, a proportion of the sale being used to promote the program of propagation and conservation. The garden’s well stocked souvenir shop offers products as diverse as jewellery, hand painted T-shirts, paintings, candles, honey, flasks of orchid plants and Tastes of Indonesia Kopi Luwak, made from the finest arabica coffee beans and exclusive to Bali Orchid Garden. Boxes of tropical flowers including Heliconia, Anthuriums and Orchids purchased to take home have full export clearance papers provided and can be delivered to your hotel. Flower arrangements and bouquets of flowers for those special occasions can be purchased.

Take a Tour around the Garden
On entering the gateway pass between the statues of Brahma, God Creator of Life, and Wisnu, God Preserver of Life. From here.you will be greeted by our friendly guides and escorted past tree fern posts covered with flowering Dendrobiums and beds of Mokara orchids, then along a walkway lined by hanging red Kagawara ‘Christie Low’. After passing hanging white Phalaenopsis and further posts of flowering dendrobiums on the left and Lotus water garden on the right a left fork of the pathway leads through the Fernery, the right pathway continues on past  assorted orchids on tree fern posts and trees, surrounded by colourful foliage including Cordylines and on past Heliconia that line the pathway, small cut flower varieties on the left and the larger South American varieties on the right, ending with the graceful and showy hanging Heliconia rostrata.

From here the path leads around the back lawn where the beds of flowering Vandas, Mokaras, Epidendrum, Arachnis Maggie Oui, Aranthera ‘Ann Black and other orchids on posts and Frangipani trees can all be viewed from the shade of the Balinese house. Rest in the shade and enjoy the view of orchid beds of Mokara and other vandaceous orchids See the Vanilla vine with flowers and pods-yes it is also an orchid. See also the spiny garden in the corner by the shade house before walking past a row of Vanda Douglas, used locally in flower arrangements, and into the shade house.

Then stroll through the shade house and find these orchids In the Shade House look for the Oncidiums,  Phalaenopsis,  Ascocendra  and ground orchids.  Coelogyne species include C speciosum and C. pandurata, the ‘black orchid’. Showy Cattleyas grow on fern posts and are also displayed as they flower. See the variety of Dendrobium and other species and a colourful assortment of oncidium hybrids. A large Grammatophyllum scriptum plant flowers frequently. Dendrobium macrophyllum is also often in flower. Note the interesting Pitcher plants with jug-like attachments to their leaves hanging from posts or sitting in the ground and climbing posts along with Philodendron and waxy flowered Hoyas. See the shiny leaf-like coloured flowers of the Anthurium hybrids and large leafy Anthurium species.

  JEWELLERY
24carat gold-plated ORCHIDS
Gold orchid jewellery is made from real orchids. Suitably selected flowers are taken through several stages of preparation before being coated with 24 carat gold. The flowers are then assembled into items of jewellery by soldering. Some samples of our gold plated orchid jewellery are seen below. Our jewellery selection also includes a variety of solid gold molded orchids and real dried orchids pressed within the item of jewellery.
